👉 What does REALFOOD mean?

We help connect individual needs with one another.

We support and develop forms of expression and stories that originate from personal experiences – and often become something shared.

These stories are really real and true brainfood.

They seek reality without ever being able to fully grasp it.

The truth they begin with may seem provocative in these times: good vibes.

👉 Sustainability Policy of REALFOODSPACE Essen

We see sustainability as a central part of our philosophy. Our goal is to act in an ecologically responsible, socially fair, and economically sustainable way.

We focus on:

  • Conserving resources through conscious energy use, waste reduction, and reuse of materials.
  • Local partnerships with collaborators from Essen and the surrounding area in order to minimize transport routes and strengthen the regional economy.
  • Social responsibility through fair working conditions, inclusive event formats, and the promotion of sustainable lifestyles.
  • The use of technology that enables renewable energy solutions. Currently: electric cars can be charged at our in-house wall box. Sound, lighting, and small devices are powered by our solar-operated energy storage system.
  • Continuous improvement of our processes in terms of environmental and climate protection through collaborations with associations and initiatives such as “Solar Café Essen” and “Solar Café Europe,” both hosted at our venue.
  • Regular evaluation of the CO₂ footprint of our activities.
  • Use of chlorine-free cleaning products and eco-labeled paper.
  • No disposable kitchen products.
  • Cooperation with local gastronomy partners who follow sustainable goals, offering catering services with and without animal products.
  • A non-smoking environment.
  • Event design options including: a children’s play area, park walks, partnerships with local bicycle rental services, including a Carla Cargo electric trailer.

The implementation and ongoing development of these sustainability goals are coordinated by Daniela Petry, our Sustainability Manager. She ensures that sustainability is actively practiced and regularly reviewed across all areas of REALFOODSPACE.

We are currently working toward a sustainability certificate and are happy to answer any questions.
